Manchester United was founded in 1878 and was called on behalf of the club then Nuitin Heath ((Railway Lancashire and Yorkshire)) was founded by a group of railway workers in Manchester after the name was shortened to Newton Heath and joined the league in 1892.
The club faced bankruptcy in 1902 but John Henry Davis saved the club and payment of debt and changed the name to Manchester United, and team colors of gold and green to red and white. And the club won the league in 1908, and financial aid from the Davis club moved to a new stadium at Old Trafford in 1909 .
United appointed Sir Matt Busby as manager after the World War II, the policy was based on players from the club's youth team brought great success for the club, and won the Football League in 1956 and 1957. But this success was after the Munich air disaster in 1958, and died 8 of the club's players. But when Sir Busby recovered from his injury by accident Munich built a great team that won the league the last two years 1965 and 1967, and Manchester United became the first British Club to win the Champions League in 68 after win over Benfica in the final.
Club did not see a great success again until the nineties, when Sir Alex Ferguson led the team to 8 league titles in eleven years. In 1999, Manchester United became the first team to win the league and FA Cup and Champions League in one season record to date has not been able to achieve any of the clubs. The club had been run as a public limited company since 1991, and there was an attempted takeover by Rupert Murdoch, but the British government barred him in 1999, but in 2005 Malcolm Glazer completed a takeover of the club after several attempts, in spite of protest from many supporters of the Reds
